As the topic of Where's the Working in Social Networks, I have different thinking. We all agree social is social, fun is fun, and business is business. But why couldn't we mix up these on one thing? We usually do not share the answer, but we share our thoughts, such as the teacher's teaching style, cooking methodds, classes, or living attitude. Also, we know most users of Facebook are young people. What is young people liking? Creative, new, funny, or weird!! They can accept any new idea quickly and also design their own style. That is a important reason for using facebbok. For businessman, it is helping us to show our products there for getting propaganda easier and cheaper.
I am totally disagree the author's thinking that he said - it is unseemly to take a medium for having fun with friends, and try to turn it into something rational and money-making. And I can tell you that his survey is a big mistake. In statistics, no one will agree two samples can represent the population- all of us. Well, there is one thing I only can explain why different thinking is because the culture. In my experience, my American friends thinks facebook just a social media. They only play some funny game and believes it will infringe on their privacy. However, you can find lots of Asia peopel use this media to connect thier friends or family. They didn't feel something wrong, because our culture is usually sharing our experiences - what food we like, which class interested, which place good travel and we never think what kind question is belong into the area of personal question. So sharing on facebook or other community media is our another social place, also showing our different. And I can say they who use these media still keep their social community in real social not only on these web. By the way, I confirm these sites have business value.
For the article of "Should Your Organization Use Social Networking Sites", I agree his 7 thinking for using these sites, especially for encouraging and respond to constituent feedback quickly. As a businessman, I usually think how can we do for disseminating our product faster. When people love your products and ideas, or understand how benefit they get or help this world, you get more feedback know how changing better for each other, then you are successful.
